Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been voted the Premier League’s Player of the Season.
BBC Sport ran a poll on their website asking fans to vote for the best player in the league in the 2019/20 season, and Henderson came out on top after collecting 23% of the votes.
Henderson has enjoyed a terrific season for Liverpool, leading the Reds to first place in the Premier League and Club World Cup glory.
His performances often go under the radar, in part due to the more noticeable efforts of the likes of Mane and Mohamed Salah, but fans have recognized how well he’s played this season.
Fans were given the choice to vote between the following 12 players:
- Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
- Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
- Alisson (Liverpool)
- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal)
- Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)
- Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool)
- Jordan Henderson (Liverpool)
- Raul Jimenez (Wolves)
- John Lundstram (Sheffield United)
- Sadio Mane (Liverpool)
- Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
- Jamie Vardy (Leicester)
Man City’s De Bruyne has been terrific while Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy is the league’s top goalscorer, but it was Henderson who came out on top.
The Liverpool midfielder has scored three goals and provided five assists in the Premier League this season.
It’s his most prolific season for goal involvements in a single campaign since 2014/15.

The 29-year-old received plenty of support from fans on the BBC Sport website.
One wrote: “Henderson. Best player this season. Really showed what the captaincy means to him and the club.
Another added: “Got to be Henderson for me. Look at how LFC the best team in the land stuttered without him.”
Henderson’s emergence as a true leader prompted Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand to recently call him an “inspiration”.
“He’s a fantastic player and you can see when he’s not in that team, he is missed now,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport’s UCL Throwbacks, per the Mirror.
“And I think for every player, that’s where you want to get to in your life and in your career – that when you’re not in that team it doesn’t quite function as well.
He’s in that position now – he’s the captain, he’s the leader, he’s the inspiration.
