Lots of Manchester City supporters have been left excited over claims a deal for Valencia winger Ferran Torres could be confirmed by the end of the week.00:2300:56

According to the Spanish edition of Goal, City have reached a definitive agreement with Valencia for the transfer of Torres and that he will sign a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium.

It is expected that the move will cost the Sky Blues between €30m and €40million (£27.3m-£36.4m), and will be announced once the final wrinkles in the paperwork are ironed out.

The final sum of Torres’ move will be dependent on performance-based bonuses and variables, and comes after Man City agreed to sell Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich.

Torres is believed to have turned down the chance of renewing his contract at Valencia to join Man City as the Sky Blues will be competing in next season’s Champions League, while the presence of Pep Guardiola has also been key.

Spain U21 international Torres feels Guardiola’s knowledge will best aid his development, while the Citizens boss also speaking Spanish will help with his acclimatization to life in England.

Manchester United were also interested in a move for Torres if a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho becomes implausible.

Torres will arrive in Manchester on the back of a superb season in Spain where he scored six goals and assisted a further eight in 44 games across all competitions.

The 20-year-old also started 26 of his 34 La Liga outings, in which he averaged 1.0 key balls per 90 minutes, plus 1.3 shots, 3.8 attempted dribbles, 1.8 tackles, and 0.6 interceptions, per WhoScored data.
