According to the suspects, they had vowed, since the death of their member, that any OPC member must be killed to avenge the death of the said colleague.
DAILY POST learned that the deceased OPC member, Kolawole Ajomale, was shot dead in the presence of his pregnant wife.
With a locally-made pistol, it was gathered that the suspects, shot Ajomale in the head and in the stomach, at his resident in 20, Odo Balogun Street, Oke-Sopein, in Ijbeu-Igbo on Sunday.
The Ogun State Police has confirmed the incident.
The Ogun Police Spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the police have arrested the suspects, Jide Afolabi and Korede Pariosho on Tuesday.
In a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Wednesday, detectives led by the Ijebu-Igbo DPO, Sp Kazeem Solotan, went to the hideout of the suspects and arrested them.
Oyeyemi said “the gun used to kill the victim had been recovered.”
Oyeyemi said, “The hoodlums had on 5th of April 2020 attacked their victim in his house situated at No.20 Odo Balogun Street Oke Sapen, in Ijbeu-Igbo where the deceased was shot on the head and stomach, in presence of his pregnant wife, consequent upon which the victim died on the spot.”
He said the police have since then, been on their trail before they were finally apprehended on Tuesday, following painstaking intelligence and technical investigation.
On interrogation, Oyeyemi informed that “the two suspects confessed killing the deceased,” saying “but they claimed to have done it in revenge for the death of one member of their cult group whom they alleged was killed by OPC men in 2017.”
He added that, “They further confessed to have vowed since then that any member of OPC seen will be killed in vengeance of the death of their late colleague.”
